Snip3down Retires From Professional Halo

But he is not yet ready to stop competing
by Tit Krajnik on October 26, 2022

Eric "Snip3down" Wrona announced on Tuesday, October 25, that he is officially retireing from professional Halo, ending his highly successful career as a Halo pro player, which started in 2008. The 31-year-old unveiled the news with a short video, hinting at his next step.

One of the most accomplished Halo esports players, Snip3down, officially retired from Halo on Monday, just three days after his team eUnited crashed out of Halo World Championship 2022 in seventh-eighth place. By stepping away from the game, Snip3down will go down in history as one of the most successful players in the esports world and a Halo legend.

The 31-year-old began his Halo esports career in February 2008, when he joined Ambush, before jumping between Instinct and Triggers Down, eventually joining Str8 Rippin in July 2008. With Str8 Rippin Snip3down won numerous MLG tournaments, including MLG National Championship 2008, but that was only the start of his impressive journey.

Throughout his 14-year-long career, which saw Snip3down compete in Halo 3, Halo Reach, Halo 5, Halo 2 Anniversary, and Halo Infinite, Snip3down has established himself as one of the most consistent players to even pick up the game. He won over 20 major titles as a member of some of the most successful Halo esports teams in history, including Str8 Rippin, Ambush, Evil Geniuses, Team Envy, Team Reciprocity, FaZe Clan, and eUnited.

Even in the latter part of his career, Snip3down has seen some success, mainly as a member of FaZe Clan, with who he placed third in HCS Kickoff Major Raleigh 2021 and has added five more top-four HCS finishes. Snip3down eventually left FaZe Clan to join eUnited in September 2022, with who he claimed a top-six finish at HCS Orlando and a solid top-eight placement at the recently finished HCS World Championship.

In the farewell video, Snip3down looked back at his long career while also hinting at his next move. In the video, Snip3down talks about his love for competitive videogames, most notably Apex Legends, which he left to return to Halo at the end of 2021.

During his short stint competing in Apex Legends, Snip3down played for Team Reciprocity and TSM, which he led to a top-three finish at ALGS Championship 2021 - North America, proving he can compete at the highest level across multiple titles.

Even before the video got released, it was rumored that Snip3down might return to compete in Apex Legends, further supported by leaks stating that FaZe Clan are looking to enter Apex Legends. If the rumors are correct, Snip3down will likely team up with Mac "Albralelie" Beckwith and SlurpeeG, forming a very exciting roster with a high ceiling.
