Release Window for PlayStation VR2 Announced

And it's priced higher than the actual console.

The long-awaited announcement about exactly when the next generation of virtual reality headsets would come to PlayStation 5. The PlayStation VR2 has had many games announced for it, but the lack of even a release window was beginning to weigh heavily on those who are excited. Now, the peripherals have a release date as well as a price tag. It looks like it's going to cost you more than the actual PlayStation 5 itself at  $549 / €599.99 / £529.99 MSRP on February 23 of 2023. The worst part about this is that the packaging looks to only come with the headset, cables, stereo headphones, and two controllers. There will be the option to purchase a bundle that includes a voucher for the game Horizon Call of the Mountain for an addition $50.

Of course, it's no secret that the PlayStation 5 has been notoriously difficult to find due to a lack of supply. So, the fact that a peripheral for the console costs so much more and will most likely not be able to be used by many players is a little disappointing. To sort of lessen the price blow, several news games were discussed alongside the announcement for fans to look forward to:

  • The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR
  • Crossfire: Sierra Squad
  • The Light Brigade
  • Cities VR – Enhanced Edition
  • Cosmonious High
  • Hello Neighbour: Search and Rescue
  • Jurassic World Aftermath Collection
  • Pistol Whip VR
  • Zenith: The Last City
  • After The Fall
  • Tentacular

The preorders for the PlayStation VR2 are going to be opening up on November 16 at participating retailers. Hopefully, more news and information will become available about what fans can really expect on release day. But, for now, we can just hope that we can see more PlayStation 5 consoles hitting shelves in time for this to release.
