TSM Making Changes To Its Dota 2 Roster

Team Undying roster breaks apart
by Tit Krajnik on November 03, 2022

North American esports organization TSM, has already started making changes to its Dota 2 roster following an underwhelming showing at The International 2022. And the roster shuffle began on Wednesday, November 2, with the departure of support player Kim "DuBu" Doo-young.

On Wednesday, TSM officially parted ways with DuBu, who is the first player to leave the TSM Dota 2 roster since the squad came together at the start of the 2021 Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) season. Formerly a part of Team Undying, DuBu joined TSM alongside his former teammates in Enzo "Timado" O'Connor, Jonathan "Bryle" Guia, Jonáš "SabeRLight-" Volek, and David "MoonMeander" Tan, who have stuck together for nearly two years.

The squad made a name for themselves with a strong showing at The International 10, where Team Undying placed fifth in the group stage, ahead of Alliance, Team Aster, and Evil Geniuses. Unfortunately, they didn't make it far in the knockout stage, where Undying crashed out in the first round.

Regardless, since joining TSM, the ex-Undying roster continued with strong showings, helping TSM win DPC NA 2021/2022 Tour 1: Regional Final. Midway through the season, DuBu and co. also claimed silver from Tour 2: Division 1 and reached the finals of ESL One Stockholm 2022.

In the final NA DPC season, TSM finished fourth; however, they completed their run through the Last Chance Qualifiers, securing a spot at The International 2022. But despite high expectations, TSM failed to deliver, as they crashed out of the TI in 19th-20th place, with a 0/5/4 group stage record.

In the inevitable post-TI roster shuffle, TSM decided to part ways with DuBu, who has announced on Wednesday that he is looking for a new team. He has also noted that he is fine playing in any region and is ready to relocate.

With TSM announcing its first Dota 2 roster changes, the organization joins a long list of NA teams that are making some adjustments to their rosters ahead of the 2023 season. Notably, Evil Geniuses are reportedly set to release its entire roster and move to the South American region, while Soniqs already parted ways with its lineup.
