Alien is Getting a New AAA Title

The Alien: Isolation sequel is apparently on the way too
by Joe Wilcock on November 23, 2022

Alien video game adaptations have been inconsistent since the first attempt on the Atari 2600 in 1982. Mediocracy has plagued the franchise throughout its many attempts, with the exception of Aliens: Colonial Marines which many claim is the worst of the lot. The shining example and the best Alien game in recent history was Creative Assembly’s Alien: Isolation, but that was released way back in 2014.

The Alien franchise is due a new AAA title, aside from uninspired attempts such as the Left 4 Dead ripoff; Aliens: Fireteam Elite. Just as impatience began to fester, Inside Gaming has been given information that suggests a new Alien game is, in fact, in the works. The anonymous source revealed that the game is being developed for current-gen consoles with a AAA budget under the code name “Marathon”. Although the developers were not mentioned, it is apparently taking queues from survival horror games such as Dead Space and Resident Evil.

The source also gave mention to the aforementioned Alien: Isolation series, confirming that the sequel is at least being pitched, if not already in development. Creative Assembly is yet to be officially confirmed as the developers though.

Instead, Creative Assembly has been preoccupied with the hugely popular Total Wars series leaving the future of the Alien: Isolation franchise in the dark. Despite SEGA’S jubilation at the reception of the first game, it seems there has been no impetus to make a sequel.
