Virtus.Pro Welcome A New Dota 2 Roster

Virtus.pro will start form scratch heading into the 2023 season
by Tit Krajnik on December 07, 2022

After Virtus.Pro failed to qualify for The International, the first rumors of a complete roster rebuild surfaced. And the reports got confirmed on Tuesday, December 6, when Virtus.pro announced a new Dota 2 roster for the 2023 Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) season.

Shortly after Virtus.pro failed to qualify for The International 2022, rumors of the Russian esports organization planning to release its entire Dota 2 roster popped up. And it didn't take long for Virtus.pro to start rebuilding.

In October, VP parted ways with Roman "RAMZES666" Kushnarev and waved goodbye to the remaining team members in the coming months. The final departures happened at the start of the month when VP waved goodbye to Daniyal "yamich" Lazebnyy and Egor "Xakoda" Lipartiya, and Dmitry "DM" Dorokhin and Danil "gpk" Skutin, who left VP today, leaving the organization without a single active player. But it didn't take Virtus.pro long to fill in the gaps.

Today, VP announced its 2023 Dota 2 roster, which will consist of Evgeniy "Noticed" Ignatenko, Kamil "Koma`" Biktimirov, Ilya "squad1x" Kuvaldin, Andrey "Dukalis" Kuropatkin, and Oleg "sayuw" Kalenbet. The quintet are a squad of unproven talent compared to VP's previous iteration, joining Virtus.pro from various teams.

But even though most of Virtus. pro's new players are a bit of an unknown; some have had solid seasons in 2022. Dukalis, who was previously a player for PuckChamp and Alliance, and Noticed, formerly of BetBoom, join VP as two of the most recognizable names of the new lineup, particularly Noticed, who has helped BetBoom win Dota 2 Champions League Season 9, Season 13, and 14, and qualified for The International 2022.

Still, there are many question marks above the new lineup, mainly whether Noticed and his crew will live up to Virtus. pro's high standards and help the Russian esports organization relive its glory days. But this wouldn't be the first time a stack of unproven talent would impress.

Meanwhile, it remains to be seen where VP's former players will end up. DM is rumored to join OG for the 2023 season, while RAMZES666, gpk, yamich, and Xakoda remain free agents, waiting for a team to pick them up before the roster lock on December 9.
