Team Liquid Sign Nisha

Team Liquid bolster its Dota 2 roster with former Team Secret player
by Tit Krajnik on December 09, 2022

Michal "Nisha" Jankowski joined Team Liquid Dota 2 team on Friday, December 9, rounding up Liquid's new 2023 roster. The signing comes on the final day before the 2023 Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) roster lock.

Nisha officially joined Team Liquid on Friday, completing the roster, which has remained untouched from its 2022 iteration. The 22-year-old will replace Lasse "MATUMBAMAN" Urpalainen, who retired from professional play on October 30 and is the only change to the roster ahead of the next season, besides the departure of coach Jesse "JerAx" Vainikka, who was let go on the same day.

The Polish mid laner joins Team Liquid from Team Secret, which he joined in September 2018 and has been a key player for the team ever since. With Team Secret, Nisha won three Major titles and helped the team achieve immense success at The International, finishing fourth in 2019, third in 2021, and made the grand finals earlier this year at The International 2022.

Although Team Liquid haven't achieved as much over the last three years, the team did well last season when they finished with a bronze medal from TI11. Besides that, Liquid also found success regionally by winning DPC WEU Tour 1: Division I, placing second in Regional Final and Tour 3: Division I, and claiming silver in Tour 2: Division I.

Given Liquid's strong showings in 2022, it's reasonable that the organization didn't intend to make any drastic roster changes. But due to MATUMBAMAN's retirement, Liquid had to find a replacement, which they did in Nisha, who has been without a team since December 1.

Nisha left Team Secret at the start of the month, a day before the team signed Miroslav "BOOM" Bican as their new midlaner for the 2023 season. Still, despite leaving the team so close to the roster lock deadline, it was expected that the Polish Dota 2 pro would find a new team.
