Apex Legends Global Series Heads To London In 2023

ALGS visits London for the first split of Year 3
by Tit Krajnik on December 22, 2022

Video game publisher and developer EA Sports announced that the Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) is coming to London in 2023 for ALGS Year 3 Split 1 Playoff. As announced, the event will be held on February 2-5, welcoming 40 Apex Legends teams competing for the lion's share of the $1 million prize pool.

The ALGS Year 3 Split 1 will mark the beginning of the 2023 Apex Legends esports season, which promises to be the biggest one to date. With a $5 million prize pool and three in-person competitions, ALGS Year 3 will build on the last season's success and introduce an extended list of teams featuring 30 squads per region.

The Split 1 playoffs will move to the multi-sports venue, the Coopers Box Arena, which previously hosted significant sporting events such as the 2012 Summer Olympics and various esports events, including the RLCS 2021-2022 Spring Split Major.

The news come shortly after the AGLS concluded its Split 1 Pro Leagues across all of its regions, including EMENA and North America, which produced new champions in Aurora Gaming and TSM, respectively.

As announced by EA Sports, the Split 1 Playoffs ticket sale started today, on Thursday, December 22 at 8:00 AM PT/16:00 GMT.
The Split 1 Playoffs will kick off with a 40-team group stage, spread across two days of play (February 2-3), dividing the teams into four groups of ten, who will compete in a single six-match series against every other group.

The bracket stage will begin on Saturday, February 4, when every team will be assigned their starting position in a double-elimination bracket, based on their placement in the group stage. After the bracket stage concludes, the top 20 teams will advance to the Match Point Finals, slated for Sunday, February 5.

The Match Point Finals will consist of single match point format series to determine the Split 1 Playoff Champion, who will take home the largest slice of the $1 million prize pool and Playoff Points used to qualify for the season-culminating ALGS Championship.
