Big Changes Coming To WoW With Patch 10.0.5

Return of old features, QoL changes, and more
by Tit Krajnik on January 21, 2023

The 10.0.5 content update for World of Warcraft is just around the corner, bringing new exciting features to the game, including a new Trading Post, a new Primal Storm event, and additional ways to transmog your gear. The update is scheduled to go live on Tuesday, January 24.

The Storm Fury Event

The 10.0.5 update will introduce a new Primal Strom event, "The Storm Fury", which will take place in The Primalist Future.
The Storm Fury will occur every five hours and can be accessed via the Temporal Conflux portal in Thaldraszus. In the event, players will be tasked to take down Primalists who are trying to dominate Azeroth and close down their portals.

Successful participation in the event will earn players Essence of the Storm, which can be exchanged for various rewards. These include the Time-Lost Vorquin Foal pet, Chasing Storm toy, Skyskin Hornstrider mount, a cache containing Storm Sigils, and iLvl 385 rings, neck, and trinkets.

WoW Trading Post

The Trading Post is a new feature making its way into World of Warcraft on February 1. With it, players will be able to complete monthly activities to earn currency towards decking out their characters with pets, mounts, and cosmetic transmogs.

The Trading Post will be located outside of the Mage District in Stormwind for Alliance and at Zen'shiri Trading Post next to Grommash Hold in Orgrimmar for the Horde. To obtain new cosmetic items, pets, and mounts, WoW will introduce a new account-wide currency named "Trader's Tender", which can be acquired in two ways:

  • Completing monthly activities in Traveller's Log
  • Logging in and heading to the Trading Post, where you can collect 500 Trader's Tender every month via a Collector's Cache chest.

Transmog Update

Besides the new Storm Fury event and Trading Post, WoW will also introduce a long-awaited transmog update, allowing players to expand their wardrobes with Common and Poor quality gear. Each common and poor-quality item will be bind-on-equip and will be available to add to your Appearance collection, vastly expanding the variety of transmog sets the players can use.

The Return of Mage Tower

Adventurers will be able to speak with War Councilor Victoria at Deliverance Point in the Broken Shore to return to the well-known Mage Tower, where they'll be able to test their skills in one of seven unique challenges.

First introduced in patch 7.2.0, the Mage has been since removed and made just one short appearance in patch 9.1.5 as a part of the Legion Timewalking. Now, WoW plans to re-introduce the feature to the game permanently, giving the players another unique way to test their skills on their class.

By completing the Mage Tower challenges, the players will earn special rewards, including Legion-themed class-specific armor sets, Guardian Druid Fel Wearbear Form, achievements, and Soaring Spelltome mount.

The 10.0.5 update will also introduce a plethora of class changes to balance out the power and make some classes more viable in higher M+ keys. That will include the introduction of new talents, changing up the talent trees to make certain spells more accessible, and reducing the level requirements of specific spells.
