Sentinels Reportedly Re-Entering Apex Legends Esports

Sentinels are nearing the signing of Spacestation Gaming Apex Legends roster
by Tit Krajnik on January 26, 2023

According to recent reports, Sentinels are looking to re-enter the Apex Legends esports scene with the current Spacestation Gaming roster. Sentinels released its previous Apex Legends lineup on Monday, January 23, following disappointing performances at the start of the year.

Apparently, Sentinels are looking to get back into competitive Apex Legends just days after releasing its former roster of Adam "senoxe" Lau, Nicholas "Crust" Kell, and Trenton "lou" Clements, who were let go from the team earlier this week. And instead of building its new roster piece-by-piece, Sentinels are reportedly looking to sign the entire Spacestation Gaming lineup.

Angello "xenial" Cardenas, Joseph "Frexs" Sanchez, and Mark "DROPPED" Thees, who are all still contracted with Spacestation Gaming are said to join Sentinels ahead of Split One Playoffs in London. The trio have played together for more than one year, with xenial and Frexs being signed to the team nearly two years ago.

But despite their long history, it's unclear whether the trio will stick together after Split One Playoffs. DROPPED, who joined the team in July 2021, is said to leave his teammates soon. He was already seen playing with OpTic Gaming, while Spacestation Gaming had to use a stand-in for Hyperluxe's Oversight Circuit.

Frexs and xenial were also seen playing with other players in various tournaments, including Mac "Albralelie" Beckwith and Robert "Dimi" Johnson, who are both candidates to replace DROPPED if he decides to leave.

How the trio will look in one month remains to be seen, but if the reports are correct, we can be certain that Sentinels will re-enter Apex Legends esports with a new-look lineup. The roster overhaul follows months of disappointing results of Sentinels' previous Apex roster, which failed to win any big events throughout 2022.

The team's most notable achievement was placing fourth at ALGS: 2022 Split 1 Playoffs - North America in January 2022, but they have since only managed to pick up a couple of lesser event titles, including BenQ Apex Showdown #21 and #25.

Spacestation Gaming, on the other side, have achieved far more in 2022 and are known as one of North America's most consistent Apex Legends teams. Most notably, they've not placed worse than 10th in NA Pro League since the league's inception in 2021, placed second at JBL Quantum Cup 2022 - North America and finished the year with a ninth-place finish in ALGS: 2022 Split 1 Pro League - North America.
