Surprise! Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Is Getting Its Very Own Link amiibo | Nintendo Life

Fans of The Legend of Zelda franchise will have something to look forward to this May as Nintendo has confirmed the release of a brand-new Link amiibo. This latest addition to the amiibo collection will be launched on May 12, the same day as The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

According to the official Nintendo Twitter account, scanning the new Link amiibo will provide players with a unique blue and brown skin for their in-game paraglider, complete with the Hylian crest embroidery. Previous amiibo from the series such as Link Rider from Breath of the Wild, Zelda and Loftwing from Skyward Sword, and Majora’s Mask Link will also offer players different materials, weapons, and paraglider fabrics when scanned.

It is not clear what other benefits players can expect from scanning these amiibo, but previous releases of the popular collectibles have offered rare loot in games like Breath of the Wild.

As with all popular amiibo releases, fans can expect the Tears of the Kingdom amiibo to sell out quickly. The Animal Crossing: New Horizons villager amiibo cards saw a surge in demand in 2021, with prices reaching as high as $175 on the second-hand market.

The amiibo information was revealed during the recent Nintendo Direct, which also gave fans a glimpse of the highly anticipated sequel. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom releases on May 12 for the Nintendo Switch and will cost $70.
