Evil Geniuses Black Sign Junior

Junior rounds up Evi Geniuses Black CS:GO roster
by Tit Krajnik on February 21, 2023

On Monday, February 20, Evil Geniuses Black announced the singing of Paytyn “junior” Johnson, who will round up the new-look Counter-Strike: Global Offensive roster. The announcement came just hours after the 22-year-old’s departure from Complexity, where he sat on the bench since July 2022.

As confirmed on Monday, junior will continue his CS:GO esports career with Evil Geniuses Black, who acquired the 22-year-old AWPer as a replacement for Jerric “wiz” Jiang, who got promoted to EG’s main roster last month. By signing the contract, junior is set to return to the professional CS:GO scene for the first time since July, when he got benched from Complexity and has since been looking for a new team.

Junior joins EG Black as a promising player who made a name for himself while competing for Triumph in 2020-21 and quickly established himself as one of the most exciting young North American pros. This earned him a contract with FURIA Esports, who picked up junior at the start of 2021 but parted ways with the American after just five months.

Junior then spent a short sting with Bad News Bears before moving to Complexity in January 2022, where he reunited with former Triumph teammate Michael “Grim” Wince. Unfortunately, the move didn’t end as junior had hoped, as he was moved to the bench after eight months, averaging a 0.98 performance rating.

Since getting benched from Complexity, junior has been competing in various online events and placed second in ESEA Cash Cup: North America - Summer 2022 #3 and #5 with a stack, Gas Money.

This won’t be the first time junior will put on Evil Geniuses Black’s jersey. He already appeared for the team in The fl0m Cup at the start of the year, when he helped the team finish top-four. Having proven that he fits in with the team, junior has now been offered a permanent spot in the team and is set to make an official debut at ESL Challenger League Season 44 on Tuesday, February 21.
