Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family Available in More Countries

Now, more people than ever can enjoy this service
by Natalie Collazo on February 22, 2023

Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family account-sharing service is now available in more countries, with six additional locations being added to the service's availability. The expansion of the plan, which gives up to five people access to all Game Pass Ultimate benefits, comes as good news to gamers in Chile, Hungary, Israel, New Zealand, South Africa, and Sweden. The service, which was launched as a limited preview in September 2021, was initially available in only two countries, Colombia and the Republic of Ireland.

The Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family plan provides a significant discount compared to individual memberships. Members of the plan can take full advantage of Game Pass Ultimate's features, such as cloud streaming, EA Play membership, and discounts on the Game Pass library. However, there are limitations to the service, such as the fact that only people living in the same country or region as the main account holder can be added to a Friends & Family plan. Additionally, members can only be part of one group at a time.

For those who are eager to sign up, Microsoft has provided some instructions. Firstly, those who are invited to join a group will not be able to convert their existing Game Pass membership. Therefore, they must either cancel it or wait for it to expire. However, the main account holder can convert their existing Game Pass subscription before inviting others, and any remaining time will be carried over to the new plan based on the monetary value of the old membership.

Microsoft did not give any hints regarding when Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family might expand again. However, the expansion into six new countries is a promising sign for those in other locations who are hoping to join the service. The availability of the service in more countries will undoubtedly increase its popularity and make it more accessible to a larger audience.
