BLUEJAYS Part Ways With Its CS:GO Roster

BLUEJAYS pull the plug on its CS:GO division
by Tit Krajnik on February 24, 2023

On Friday, February 24, BLUEJAYS parted ways with its entire Counter-Strike: Global Offensive lineup, including Spanish head coach Antonio "Cr0n0s" Soriano. The decision follows the declining performances of the roster, who decided to go their separate ways rather than sticking together.

BLUEJAYS announced its exit from the competitive CS:GO scene on Friday when the esports organization released its entire roster. The decision follows the team's disappointing results over the year's first two months, failing to achieve notable results across four tournaments.

Notably, BLUEJAYS placed 23rd-24th in CCT South Europe Series #2 in January, 17th-19th at CCT North Europe Series #3 at the start of February, and recently added a ninth-16th and 17th-24th place finish at CCT West Europe Series #1 and ESL Challenger League Season 44: Europe. BLUEJAYS's only successful campaign happened two weeks ago when they made it through RES Season 4: Adriatic Qualifier.

Last month, BLUEJAYS released Pavle "stYleEeZ" Stojanovski and lost in-game leader Damjan "kyxsan" Stoilkovski at the end of 2022, when the 22-year-old left to play for Apeks. BLUEJAYS have since signed a new member in Zoran "xicoz" Markovski but failed to find their previous form.

Before the roster changes, BLUEJAYS achieved a lot and won IESF World Esports Championship 2022 in December. Before that, the North Macedonian squad have found some success, but they often fell at the final hurdle, with a runner-up finish from ESL Challenger League Season 42: Europe and a few early exits from various qualifiers.

Still, through all ups and downs, BLUEJAYS have remained at the cusp of breaking into top 30 in the global CS:GO ladder.

It remains to be seen what the future holds in store for the ex-BLUEJAYS players, but it was said that the roster would part ways and go their separate ways. BLUEJAYS' star player Aleksandar "CacaNito" Kjulukoski, who has been with the team since January 2023, has confirmed that he will stand in for ATK at ESL Pro League Season 17, while coach Cr0n0s and the rest of the players will enter free agency.
