Kyojin Rounds Up Nakama's CS:GO Roster

Kyojin will reunite with his former teammates at Nakama
by Tit Krajnik on March 04, 2023

On Saturday, March 4, Nakama completed its Counter-Strike: Global Offensive roster by signing Jayson "Kyojin" Nguyen Van and Matthieu "Razzmo" Mellot. The duo rounded up an all-French roster which was formed in January in a bid to qualify for the Paris Major but failed.

Razzmo and Kyojin signed for Nakama on Saturday as replacements for Paul "day0s" Niel and Edouard "SmithZz" Dubourdeaux, who were let go just a month after the project was formed. The duo will team up with Jeremy "Kursy" Gast, Ryan "Neityu" Aubry, and Kyojin's former teammate at Team Vitality, Richard "shox" Papillon.

As revealed, SmithZz was let go from the team since he was never supposed to be a permanent addition to the roster, whereas day0s didn't with the lineup.

By reuniting shox and Kyojin, Nakama will look to improve their showings, which have been largely disappointing of late. The squad was initially formed to qualify for BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023, but failed to deliver.

The team kicked off their journey with a 33rd-64th place finish at BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023: European RMR Open Qualifier #1, where Nakama lost against Forward Gaming (5-16) in the first round of the qualifier. They've since attended RES Western European Masters: Spring 2023 - French & Benelux Qualifier, but again failed to show anything inspiring and crashed out of the event in the first round with a 20-22 loss against KRC Genk Esports.

Kyojin joins Nakama as a free agent, having spent the last two months as a stand-in for Young Prodigies. He previously played for Team Falcons but was benched in July 2022 and remained with the organization until November.

His new teammate, Razzmo, joins the all-French team from HEET, who he played for from the start of the year. Unfortunately, the 21-year-old failed to live up to the expectations, averaging a 0.88 performance rating, suggesting he wasn't ready for the big league due to his lack of experience.

The new-look roster will debut on Saturday, Match 4, n the Elisa Invitational Spring 2023 European Qualifier.
