Sk0r leaves IHC Esports

It wasn't his decision
by Tit Krajnik on March 06, 2023

On Monday, March 6, IHC Esports announced the departure of Tengis "sk0R" Batjargal. The star player of the Mongolian Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team left the squad after one year, but has unveiled that the departure wasn't his decision.

Sk0R's exit from IHC Esports comes as a surprise, given the team's success over the last few months. In January, the Mongolian squad placed second at ESL Pro League Season 17: Asian Conference and won Intel Extreme Masters Rio 2023: Asian Qualifier, which qualified sk0R and his crew for Intel Extreme Masters Katowice 2023.

In Poland, IHC Esports surprised the world and made it through the Play-In stage with wins against paiN Gaming and FURIA Esports before eliminating Cloud9 from the group stage in one of the biggest upsets in recent CS:GO history. IHC Esports crashed out of the event in ninth-12th place following a 0-2 defeat against FaZe Clan.

Last month, IHC Esports also reached the final stage of BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023: Asian RMR Qualifier and successfully qualified for the Asia-Pacific RMR, which they entered as the leading favorites to lock in a spot for the upcoming Paris Major.

The team's success over the first two months of 2023 saw IHC Esports climb up the global CS:GO ladder, where they currently sit in the 18th spot – the organization's peak rating since IHC first entered the scene in March 2022.

Yet despite IHC Esports' success, the team decided to part ways with their best player, sk0R, who officially left the team on Monday. The sudden roster change follows the recent news about the founders of IHC Esports' main partner, the Inflation Hedging Coin (IHC) cryptocurrency, who had been arrested and is facing charges of money laundering and misappropriating funds.

The team released a statement shortly after stating that the organization isn't involved with the controversy, stating that "certain individuals have no involvement with our management and operation".

Even with sk0R's departure, IHC field a full roster in Garidmagnai "bLitz" Byambasuren, Sodbayar "Techno4K" Munkhbold, Baatarkhuu "Bart4k" Batbold, Bat-Enkh "kabal" Batbayar, and Tuvshintugs "ANNIHILATION" Nyamdorj.
