Team Secret Complete Dota 2 Roster Overhaul With Two Big Signings

Team Secret round up its Dota 2 roster with two WEU rookies
by Tit Krajnik on March 11, 2023

Just a couple of days after releasing two of its players, Team Secret rounded up its Dota 2 roster with the signing of Armel "Armel" Tabios and Daniyal "yamich" Lazebnyy. The move sees two experienced Dota 2 players join a Western European squad for the first time.

On Tuesday, March 7, Team Secret parted ways with Roman "Resolut1on" Fomynok and Baqyt "Zayac" Emiljanov following the team's poor performance in DPC WEU 2023 Tour 1: Division I, where Secret placed last and suffered elimination from the upper division. However, the European squad didn't need long to find replacements to round up its roster for the Spring Tour of the 2023 DPC season.

As revealed on Saturday, March 11, Team Secret signed former Fnatic and TNC Predator player Armel and a Russian Dota 2 pro yamich, who has spent the last year competing with Virtus.pro. The two players are known names in the professional Dota 2 scene and have already proven their worth in their respective regions but have never competed in the Western European league before.

Armel, who has spent most of his career competing in the Southeast Asian region, is mostly known for his three-year-long stint with TNC Predator. With the team, he won the won MDL Chengdu Major, ESL One Hamburg 2019, and World Electronic Sports Games 2018.

His new teammate, yamich, started his Dota 2 esports career in 2018 with Winstrike Team and has since played for several CIS squads, including Khan and Virtus.pro, which he was a part of since November 2021.

"Yamichj is a young Dota player who has not yet achieved his success, and I hope to make it a reality. I have great confidence that he has the capabilities of being a star player," said Team Secret captain Clement "Puppey" Ivanov.

"Armel has been a dominant mid laner his whole career. He will bring a strong x-factor to the team since he comes from a different region. I believe he is hungry for success and will achieve it with us."

By signing yamich and Armel, Team Secret now field a complete roster which the organization hopes will help Secret return to its glory days. But first, Secret need to fight its way through the second division of DPC WEU 2023 and start paving its way towards qualifying for The International 2023.

The roster changes will also see Miroslav "BOOM" Bican move his role to the offlane, to make room for Armel, who is primarily a mid laner.

DPC WEU 2023 Tour 2: Division II is scheduled to kick off on April 4 and conclude on April 25.
