Bleed eSports Replace JayH with Nephh

Bleed eSports announce a roster change despite a strong start to the season
by Tit Krajnik on March 14, 2023

On Tuesday, March 14, Bleed eSports announced the signing of Marcus "nephh" Tan, who joins the Southeast Asian Valorant team from x10 Esports. The 19-year-old will replace Wong "JayH" Jia Heng, who was moved to the substitute position.

Bleed eSports made an unexpected roster change on Tuesday when the Southeast Asian Valorant team unveiled the signing of nephh as a replacement for JayH. The roster change comes just two days after Bleed eSports won VALORANT Challengers 2023: Malaysia & Singapore Split 1, where they beat nephh's former team X10 Esports.

Yet despite the positive result, Bleed eSports felt like they had to make roster changes to compete for the top spots in the region. For nephh, this is a massive step in his Valorant esports career, as he joins the current strongest team in the region.

Nephh started his Valorant career in June 2022 with Gaimin Gladiators before he spent a short stint with LaZe and signed a contract with X10 Esports in February 2023. Since joining X10 Esports, nephh has appeared in just one tournament, the VALORANT Challengers 2023: Malaysia & Singapore Split 1, where he posted impressive stats and was a key player on X10 Esports' road to the finals.

Throughout the 29 maps played, nephh has averaged the tournament's fourth-highest KDA (1.80), with the second-most assists per map (11-00 A/Map).

"Since I have graduated, I want to try playing full-time as well. Bleed's roster is also stronger than X10's roster that I was playing with, though there were good players in it as well," said nephh.

"No hate to X10 at all, the management and the owner were very nice to all of us and I thank them for supporting my decision of going over to Bleed."

X10 Esports rebuilt its Valorant squad in February and are already down a member. In contrast, Bleed eSports have made just two changes since October, including the signing of JayH, who joined in December and the departure of coach Abhisek "GodspeedxD" Bajaj, who left the team on Monday.

By winning VALORANT Challengers 2023: Malaysia & Singapore Split 1, Bleed eSports have qualified for VALORANT Challengers 2023: Malaysia & Singapore Split 2, set to kick off on March 29. In the tournament, Bleed eSports will compete for the lion's share of the $22,100 prize pool and a spot in the Ascension tournament.
