Team Spirit Sign An All-Female CS:GO Roster

Team Spirit announce the signing of ESL Impact CS:GO team
by Tit Krajnik on March 18, 2023

On Saturday, March 18, Team Spirit announced the signing of an all-female Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team MVP. This marks the Russian esports organization's first hooray in female CS:GO scene, following the likes of Guild and G2 Esports.

Team Spirit followed the trend of signing female CS:GO rosters and announced its first female CS:GO team on Saturday, in the middle of the third season of ESL Impact. Team Spirit acquired the entire MVP team, which currently competes in the European division's Group A.

The organization's first entry into women's esports, which Team Spirit named "a double experiment", sees Spirit follow other major esports brands, such as G2 Esports, in their expansion into female esports. Moreover, the signing of MVP sees Team Spirit field an English-speaking esports roster for the first time in the organization's history.

"We planned to enter the female circuit more than a year ago but it didn't happen back then. We regret that we lost a lot of time, and we didn't want to lose anymore, so several months ago we started monitoring prospective female teams and ultimately decided to make a move for MVP," said Team Spirit.

"Female CS definitely has a lot of potential because of the tournament ecosystem, which didn't exist before. One of the key event in it is ESL Impact, and of course, we wanted to be represented there."

MVP, who joined under Team Spirit's banner, qualified for Impact League via open qualifiers held in February. The team is currently two rounds into their ESL Impact League Season 3: European Division campaign, where they compete in Group A alongside Nigma Galaxy Fe, Astralis Female, Ninjas in Pyjamas Fe, and BIG EQUIPA.

Despite showing promise in the qualifiers, Team Spirit's female team got off to a rough start to the tournament, losing their first two series against favoured Nigma Galaxy (0-2) and Astralis Female (1-2). However, despite the poor start to the event, the team's coach Aleksey "Nevar" Vornov, said that he doesn't expect instant results with the roster and that the team will take the first season more like a trial run.

Team Spirit female will play their next match on Thursday, March 23, when they face off against the undefeated BIG EQUIPA.
