YapzOr Hints At Possible Return To Competitive Dota 2

YapzOr might return to pro play for the Riyadh Masters 2023 qualifiers
by Tit Krajnik on March 19, 2023

Yazied "YapzOr" Jaradat, who was last seen in a competitive Dota 2 match in July 2022, has hinted at a possible return to pro play in one of his streams. Although he has stated that he has no plans to return, YapzOr mentioned that he might be competing in the Riyadh Masters 2023 qualifier.

Former Team Secret Dota 2 pro player, Yazied "YapzOr" Jaradat has been out of competitive play for the last nine months. He was last seen competing with Team Secret in DPC WEU 2021/2022 Tour 3: Division I but hasn't made a single appearance in pro play since he stepped down from the active roster in July 2022.

Initially, YapzOr said that he would step away from the game due to health issues when he also took a break from ranked matches. However, he has since returned to playing solo queue, has resumed live streaming on Twitch, and even live viewed some professional Dota 2 tournaments with Janne "Gorgc" Stefanovski.

In one of his recent streams, YapzOr was questioned about his future in competitive Dota 2 and whether he plans to return to the game. He responded that he has no plans of coming back, but could play in the "Saudi qualifier", suggesting that he might make a comeback this summer.

"No plans [of returning to pro play] anytime soon. I might play the Saudi qualifier – that's all I know for now," said YapzOr.

Although his response suggests that YapzOr has no intentions of returning to competitive Dota 2 anytime soon, it didn't seem like he is ready to hang up his mouse and keyboard. The 28-year-old started his esports career in 2011 and has since played for several teams before joining Team Secret in 2017.

With Team Secret, YapzOr won a plethora of Major tournaments and helped Team Secret finish The International 2022 in third place. Unfortunately, Secret's poor start to the 2022 season, which saw them place fifth across all three Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) WEU 2021/22 Tours, led to YapzOr taking a break from the game. He was then replaced by Baqyt "Zayac" Emiljanov, who was recently let go amid a roster overhaul.

YapzOr hinting that he could play in the Riyadh Masters 2023 qualifier suggests that Team Secret might be looking to make further roster changes. It is also possible that YapzOr will join another team for the qualifiers; however, there are no official announcements which would confirm either of the two stories.

The Riyadh Masters 2023 was recently announced as the upcoming Dota 2 tournament, scheduled for July 17-30, with a massive $15 million prize pool.
