Dupreeh Returns For ESL Pro League S17 Playoffs

After spending a month on parental leave, dupreeh will re-join his team
by Tit Krajnik on March 20, 2023

On Monday, March 20, Team Vitality announced they would have their full roster ready in time for the ESL Pro League Season 17. With that, the French Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team confirmed the return of Peter “dupreeh” Rasmussen, who has spent the past month on parental leave.

The return of dupreeh was confirmed just one day ahead of the ESL Pro League Season 17 Playoffs kick-off, where 16 teams will compete for the coveted trophy and the lion’s share of the $850,000 prize pool. Up to now, Team Vitality have been playing with HEET’s benched player Audric “JACKZ” Jug, who stood in for the Dane during the group stage and impressed everyone with his performances.

The former G2 Esports player averaged a 1.26 rating in Team Vitality’s wins against Grayhound, OG, and FaZe Clan and turned many heads with his performance in his first Big Event appearance since last season. The temporary replacement ended the group stage as Vitality’s second-highest-rated player, behind Matthieu “ZywOo” Herbaut.

Largely thanks to JACKZ, Team Vitality topped Group C, earning them a direct berth to the quarterfinals, where dupreeh will return to action. The Dane was last seen playing with his team at Intel Extreme Masters Katowice 2023, where Team Vitality placed fifth-sixth, and has had quite an up-and-down start to the year.

He averaged a 1.12 performance rating at the BLAST Premier Spring Groups but could only manage a 0.91 in Katowice.
Dupreeh is set to return to play on Friday, March 24, when Team Vitality will play their ESL Pro League Season 17 quarterfinal match against either G2 Esports, Movistar Riders, or ENCE.

The ESL Pro League Season 17 Playoffs will kick off on Tuesday, March 21, with the opening four games of Round of 16, including Natus Vincere vs 00Nation, FURIA Esports vs Fnatic, paiN Gaming vs Team Liquid, and G2 Esports vs Movistar Riders.

The Round of 16 winners will then advance to face Outsiders, FaZe Clan, MOUZ, and ENCE in their respective brackets on Wednesday, March 22, with the final top four teams set to face Heroic, forZe, Cloud9, or Team Vitality in the quarterfinals.
