Everyone who decided to try out the long-awaited Diablo IV open beta was met with long queue times, which often lasted an hour or more, but this could only mean one thing – many people were playing the game. And according to Blizzard's announcement, that was the case.

On Sunday, April 2, Blizzard Entertainment unveiled interesting numbers from the Diablo IV open beta, which ended with over 61.5 million hours played, making it the largest and most successful beta in Diablo franchise history. Besides the total hours played by beta testers, Blizzard also unveiled other exciting stats.

On a particular note, the most popular classes among beta testers were Sorcerer and Necromancer, which is hardly surprising considering the class tuning during the beta.

Many people took on Diablo's most iconic boss, The Butcher, but not many succeeded in their attempts to slay the demon. According to the numbers, over 1.72 million players were butchered and only about a quarter (576k) managed to defeat the demon.

Another iconic boss from the franchise, Ashava the Pestilent, proved to be even deadlier, killing over 10 million players, with just over 1% of players managing to slay the demon. Out of 10 million players, one won the battle solo and recorded the remarkable feat on his YouTube channel.

Some other interesting stats include the total player deaths, which reached nearly 50 million, yet the in-game monsters drew the short end of the stick, with players killing well over 29 billion.

But the Diablo IV open beta stats couldn't forget to mention the Beta Wolf Pup, with 2.6 million finding their new homes and will be joining the players on their adventures once the game launches on July 6, 2023.

The excitement of Diablo IV Open beta carried over to Twitch, averaging nearly 29 million viewers between March 16 and March 28. The viewership peaked at nearly one million on March 17, when a wide variety of streamers got their hands on the game.
