Redfall Will Be 30 FPS on Console

Fans say the game ought to have been postponed instead
by Natalie Collazo on April 12, 2023

Image from Redfall set in a lived-in mansion that’s fallen into disrepair with a backlit vampire at the top of a wooden staircase with three heroes with their weapons at the ready staring up from the base of the stairs.

Things about Redfall are starting to suck, and not because it's about vampires. Announced today, it looks like Redfall is expected to launch exclusively in quality mode and run at 30 FPS on console, with an update for 60 FPS planned for a later time. The news was officially unveiled on the game's official Twitter page.

This is pretty disappointing since 60 FPS is pretty much what is expected nowadays for any first-person game that becomes available. Especially one coming from Arkane, a studio that has made some of my personal favorite titles including Dishonored and Prey. Many fans have taken to the replies to respond that the game should have just been delayed if it wasn't going to offer 60 FPS on console on launch.

The player's first impression of the title is what's going to determine its lifespan, and the fact that it's going to launch on Game Pass for players to enjoy on day one isn't a great look. Of course, we will have to wait for the official release to have an opinion on the game.
