Apex Legends Gets A New Unshielded Deadeye TDM Game Mode

For a limited time, Apex Legends will get to play a new game mode
by Tit Krajnik on April 22, 2023

On Friday, April 21, Respawn outlined plans for Apex Legends’ new limited-time game mode, Unshielded Deadeye TDM, which enters the game as a part of the ”Veiled Collection event” for Apex Legends: Revelry. The game mode will run from April 25 to May 9 and resembles the hardcore mode from Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2.

If you’re unsure whether to try out Apex Legends or not, this might be the best time to do so. The popular battle royale game is getting a new game mode called TDM Unshielded Deadeye, which closely resembles CoD MW2 hardcore mode.

The TDM Unshielded Deadeye will debut in the Veiled Collection Event, which is the final Apex Legends Event ahead of the release of Apex Legends Season 17 and promises to introduce many changes. But most importantly, the event will give Apex Legends players a chance to experience the game in a different way by jumping into a modified Team Deathmatch playlist, “Unshielded Deadeye”.

According to Apex Legends, the TDM Unshielded Deadeye is a TDM game mode with a twist, with Legends wielding limited and rotating loadouts. This game mode will give players random weapons each round, which can include one of the three weapon sets: Kraber and Sentinel, Hemlok and G7 Scout, or Wingman and 30-30 Repeater.

Although neither loadout is particularly popular in a standard TDM, they could prove very efficient in TDM Unshielded Deadeye, which will have all care packages turned off, and players will have no shields or helmets, meaning every bullet will matter that much more.

Like any TDM game mode, the Unshielded Deadeye will have a first-to-X kills system, with the team that gets 50 kills first winning the game. A simple goal, but without access to shields and helmets, staying alive might prove to be a bit tricker.

Whether Legends abilities will be available in the game mode remains to be seen. Still, considering how strong some abilities (namely Newcastle’s) could prove to be in Unshielded Deadeye, it’s likely that there will be some limits.

The Veiled Collection Event is set to start on Tuesday, April 25, and besides introducing Unshielded Deadeye, it’ll also bring 24 unique cosmetics with Legendary skins for Rampart, Watsson, Giblatar, and more. All items will be available for purchase with Apex Coins or via Crafting Metals for the entirety of the event.

Moreover, the Veiled Collection Event will come with a reward tracker, which will track daily challenges which stack with Battle Pass and reward points which unlock a Newcastle and Wingman skin.
