Riot Games Announces Changes To ADC Mythic Items

Riot unveils significant changes to Mythic items after the Mid-Season Invitational
by Tit Krajnik on April 29, 2023

On Friday, April 28, Riot Games unveiled upcoming changes to League of Legends Mythic items, which will address the current state of the item system. In the blog post, game developers revealed significant adjustments to the Mythic item system for ADC players and the return of the iconic Statikk Shiv.

In a developer blog post, Riot Games unveiled plans for future changes to League of Legends items, targeted mainly towards reworking the Mythic system. As stated, Mythic items are meant to be “high-power, high-satisfaction, capstone effects that define builds”, rather than a set of situational responses to the game, and with the upcoming changes, Riot plans to address this.

As a part of future changes, Riot Games intends to make Mythic items more impactful, create more exciting content, and increase the satisfaction of completing the items.

“We’re specifically looking at changing our philosophy on Mythic items for many champs and are no longer holding Mythics to the original 75 percent purchase rate scrutiny. We are instead holding high player satisfaction as the most important value, even if it means a champion builds the same Mythic item every game,” read the blog post.

The largest change will affect ADC itemization since ADC players effectively have two parallel Mythic paths to follow. As a result, Riot plans to make Navori Quickblades, Infinity Edge, Guinsoo’s Rageblade, and Galeforce the four primary Mythic items for ADCs, while redesigning Immortal Shieldbow and Kraken Slayer as legendary items.

We will also see the return of Statikk Shiv, which will return to the system, albeit with a different stat profile. Meanwhile, Rageblade will be redesigned to look more like its older versions.

“We expect all ADCs to be covered by at least one high-satisfaction Mythic item with this system, but it’s likely that at least some of them will have exactly one optimal Mythic. With that said, a surprising number still have multiple Mythic options, though they end up using their kits somewhat differently based on which they choose.”

Besides changing ADC items, Riot Games plans to implement changes to lethality and enchanter items for midseason. That mainly includes fixing the health problems with Prowler’s Claw and Duskblade of Draktharr by converting Prowler’s Claw into a legendary item with a new effect (without a dash), reworking Duskblade, and promoting Youmuu’s Ghostblade to a mythic item.

The changes are set to go live after Mid-Season Invitational 2023, which will kick off on Tuesday, May 2, and conclude on Sunday, May 21.
