Apex Legends Firing Range Gets An Overhaul in Season 17

A new and improved firing range enters Apex Legends on May 9
by Tit Krajnik on May 01, 2023

As confirmed by Respawn Entertainment, Apex Legends Firing Range will receive a complete overhaul in Season 17. Besides the significant improvements which will allow players to practice routines and warm up for their games, the Firing Range will also relocate to a new home.

Since it first entered the game a few years ago, the Firing Range has been left relatively untouched; however, the long overdue changes and improvements are already on the horizon. As confirmed by Apex Legends developers, the Firing Range is getting a complete overhaul in Season 17.

Season 16 has introduced some of the biggest improvements to the Firing Range, adding new settings and ways for players to have better practising routines with more competent dummies and stats. But despite the improvements, the Firing Range always felt like it was incomplete and missing some features. Now, with Season 17, the Firing Range will introduce just that.

Starting with Apex Legends Season 17, the old Firing Range will be removed from the game and replaced by a new and better version of itself. It will take place on a new map, with new range features including a town, duelling pits, and even a course dedicated to improving movement skills.

“We’ve added a new map; there’s a bunch of new areas,” said Josh Mohan during a press release.

“We’ve expanded what’s in the existing targets and dummies area, and we’ve also added combat options to the dummies so they can now fire back at you.”

In the new Firing Range, the dummies will be fully customizable, so you can make them strafe, run, or even fight back. Moreover, the new Firing Range will allow players to increase the difficulty setting of the dummies to increase the challenge.

The duelling pit will provide players with a chance to 1v1 other players. Although this has been done before, with players setting the maps up and using them as it is, the new Firing Range will offer much more customizable options for the duels and a dedicated duelling pit.

Apex Legends is more than just about good aim and game knowledge, and to become the best player you can be, you have to know how to move efficiently. As a result, Respawn Entertainment decided to add a dedicated area for practising movements such as sliding, jumping, strafing, wall bouncing, and other advanced movement techniques.

Besides the new Firing Range, Apex Legends Season 17 will introduce many quality-of-life changes, new legends, a weapon mastery system, a new survival item (Evac Tower), and many updates to existing maps.

Apex Legends Season 17 is set to go live on Tuesday, May 9.
