Halo Infinite Update Features Fan-Favourite Game Mode & Other Changes

Halo Infinite update brings back Super Fiesta and adjusts weapons & equipment
by Tit Krajnik on May 06, 2023

On Friday, May 5, 343 Industries posted a blog post in which the developer announced all the changes that are coming with the upcoming Halo: Infinite Update. The patch will feature the return of a fan-favourite game mode and balance updates, which are set to release on May 10.

Halo: Infinite's latest update will re-introduce Super Fiesta, a game mode which many fans will recognize from Halo 5: Guardians. It will be similar to the usual Fiesta game mode, which is a 4v4 game with randomized weapons; however, it will also include unique weapons and equipment from Halo Infinite campaign mode.

The update will introduce some changes to the King of the Hill game mode. The Hill will now spawn five seconds after the round starts (previously 15 seconds), while the players will start scoring on the Hill as soon as they step inside it and stop scoring points when they leave. The change will remove the delay before the capturing or losing site.

"To help facilitate more meaningful choices at the beginning of a King of the Hill match we decided to reduce the timer for the Initial Hill. This now requires teams to be more thoughtful in establishing their starting strategies as teams now have to decide between scavenging weapons and equipment and scoring points in the Hill."

This will make the decision to hop out and in of a Hil more impactful, fixing the game's current state where the players engaging in moving into and out of the Hill weren't punished enough.

Besides introducing a game mode and chances to King of the Hill, the upcoming Halo: Infinite update will also bring adjustments to the Disruptor pistol. It has been altered to reduce complexity by increasing its fire rate (from 4.285 to 5 rounds per second), and its damage increased to 70 (from 60).

In exchange, the weapon will no longer deal damage over time, and the range of its chain damage was halved. Ultimately, this adjustment will make the Disruptor pistol act more like a traditional weapon.

Spike Granates have also been added to the list of items that need to be adjusted by halving the number of spikes ejected when the grenade explodes. Moreover, the grenade will travel less distance and deal half of its damage over a smaller range. With that, the Spike Grenade will act more like the Spike Grenades from Halo 3.

Similarly, the Dynamo Grenades will have their range decreased to force players to be more thoughtful about their placement. Its shock damage, AoE, and chai distance are also decreased, whereas the movement stun has been removed in exchange for a lesser deploy time and more frequent damage pulses.

Lastly, the update will change the Shroud Screen, which will now have only one charge in ranked mode, in a bid to reduce its impact in higher-skill games.
