Diablo Immortal Introduces A New Boss Rush Game Mode

Get ready to fight Diablo Immortal's five raid bosses in succession
by Tit Krajnik on May 08, 2023

On Monday, May 8, Blizzard Entertainment announced a new content update for Diablo Immortal, which will introduce class changes, balance updates, and a new game mode named the Helliquary Gauntlet. The latter will allow players to fight the game's five raid bosses in succession and claim exclusive rewards.

With the upcoming content update, Blizzard's free-to-play mobile ARPG will release a new game mode, the Helliquary Gauntlet, which unlocks after defeating Catarag, the Strangling Sun on Hell Difficulty VIII. Helliquary Gauntlet will allow players to duke it out with the five Diablo Immortal bosses in succession to prove their strength and compete for various rewards.

As revealed, the 10 players who will complete the gauntlet the fastest will unlock an exclusive Voidwound Gauntlet Champion Avatar Frame for that week. Those who keep ahold of their spot in the top 10 on the Helliquary Gauntlet Leaderboard for a month will unlock the avatar frame permanently.

With the Helliquary Gauntlet, Diablo Immortal players will get to raid as frequently as they like and get rewarded for their success. Besides the avatar frame, the Helliquary Gauntlet will also give out random set items, Demonic Remains, random Legendary Items, and more.

Besides revealing the Helliquary Gauntlet, Blizzard also shared some updates made to the raids, which include:

  • When a player dies more than once in a raid, resurrecting them will incur an increased cooldown
  • When Helliquary booses enrage, they will periodically emit a damaging pulse which scales in damage after each use

With the update, Blizzard will also bring major balance changes to Legendary items and classes. Most notably, all ranged classes will receive a 15% damage reduction. This goes along with the 30% damage reduction for melee classes.

Moreover, the content update will introduce some changes to the Accursed Towers game mode, which was added to the game with the last update. Now the Tower of Fortitude – which granted a 20% increased PvP damage for the clan that claimed it - will be replaced with a 10% increase to life in battlegrounds, the Rite of Exile, Shadow Wars, and the Challenge of the Immortal.

The update will also re-introduce the time-limited event, the Fractured Plane, where the players attempt to clear the 15-floor gauntlet while using the gear they find on their way with pre-selected skills. The Scorched Sea and Shady Stocks event will also return, giving the players more ways to earn items by completing daily tasks.

The update is set to go live on May 10 for the Americas and May 9 for other regions of the world. Players can expect server maintenance ahead of the release on May 9 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. PDT for Oceania, China, East Asia, Southeast Asia, and Europe and on May 10 from 1 a.m. to 3 a.m. PDT in the Americas.
