WoW Dragonflight Patch 10.1.5 Introduces New Evoker Specialization & Free Riding Training

Blizzard shares more details about the changes coming with Patch 10.1.5
by Tit Krajnik on May 12, 2023

Earlier this week, Blizzard confirmed that the World of Warcraft Dragonlight 10.1.5 update is on the horizon and revealed more details about the upcoming changes with a blog post on Thursday, May 11. As announced, WoW Patch 10.1.5 will introduce a new Evoker specialization and remove the need to train for riding, helping players save thousands of gold.

Starting with Patch 10.1.5, players in World of Warcraft players will no longer need to pay gold to learn the next riding/flying level when they reach the appropriate level. Instead, the players will automatically learn the next riding/flying level, removing the need to visit riding trainers and spend thousands of gold.

With the upcoming update, players will learn Apprentice Riding at level 10, Journeyman Riding at level 20, Expert Riding at level 30, and Master Riding at level 40.

Although this doesn’t seem like a significant change, it will help with the cost of levelling up alt characters and most importantly, it’ll save the time of not needing to fly to the capital city and visit the trainers. Moreover, all players who reach level 30 will get a quest, “Time to Fly”, which awards a unique flying mount - Scarlet Pterrordax for Horde and Harbor Gryphon for Alliance.

Over the last expansion, Blizzard has been adding features to make levelling up alts much simpler for players who want to enjoy the end game on various classes, and we can expect the developers to keep moving in the same direction. However, while an exciting update, the biggest change coming with Patch 10.1.5 is the introduction of a new Evoker specialization.

As revealed on May 11, Patch 10.1.5 will introduce a new spec for Evoker, named Augmentation, which bares a close resemblance to Bard classes from other games.

A Bard class was first teased for WoW back in Wrath of the Lich King when Blizzard announced the addition of a Bard class as a part of an April 1st joke. Now, 15 years later, WoW players will get to play a specialization that’s not quite a Bard but works very similarly.

The Augmentation specialization will be a DPS/support class, using the powers of Bronze and Black Dragonflight to boost the damage of allies. This is the first specialization of its kind in World of Warcraft and an exciting addition to the ever-evolving meta.

The changes to the flying training and new Evoker class will be added to the game alongside a new megadungeon, and major class tuning for Mages and Warlocks, but we’ll have to wait a bit longer before the changes go live. Patch 10.1.5 is expected to release sometime in Summer.
