Sony CEO Confirms that PS5 Games Will Take Up To Three Years To Appear on PC

The future of PlayStation might be PC.

PlayStation boss Jim Ryan wants the PS5 to be a seven-year success | British GQ

Via an interview with Famitsu and then translated using Google Chrome's translation feature, Sony's CEO and President Jim Ryan went over the best place to play: PlayStation. In the interview, he went over how players are attached to the exclusive titles on the platform, which the company takes very seriously. Their intention with every release is that players are getting the best experience by playing the game on the latest PlayStation.

In Japan, one of the biggest markets for the PlayStation, players have been absorbed in what the company has become and what games are normally attributed to them. For example, popular legacy titles such as Final Fantasy, Monster Hunter, and Tekken are developed by Japanese developers and are more attractive to fans in the country. Other titles such as Hogwarts Legacy were also highly popular there as a result of the company's previous engagement with their audience there.

Something that Japanese players are also becoming more and more attracted to is the idea of playing games on PC. The games that are available on PC are more versatile since you are not limited to a single selection of games, which PlayStation understands very well. In fact, several titles that are exclusive to the PlayStation lineup have already been released on PC, but that is not their focus when it comes to the best place to play their games.

"I think that's a very good thing. When considering the multifaceted development of game IP, PCs are indispensable for allowing more people to enjoy games in a variety of ways. I think more is better," says Ryan. "We also fully understand the importance of PS5 exclusive titles. As I said earlier, PlayStation Studios' main responsibility is to have people enjoy the gaming experience using the latest PS. We are increasing the number of PS5-exclusive titles and staggering the release of the PC version. I often have the opportunity to ask game fans for their opinions, and when I ask them about the time lag, they say that selling the PC version two or three years after the release of the PS version is accepted favorably."
