Five Major Features Coming With WoW: Dragonflight Patch 10.1.15

WoW Patch 10.1.15 is expected to release sometime in Summer 2023
by Tit Krajnik on May 22, 2023

World of Warcraft: Dragonflight Patch 10.1 has only been out for three weeks, but we’re already nearing the release of 10.1.15, which will mark another major patch of the current expansion. Here are five most exciting and important features to look forward to.

A New Evoker Specialization

WoW: Dragonflight Patch 10.1.15 will feature an addition of a new Evoker specialization – Augmentation. As confirmed, Augmentation will be a support specialization based on a DPS spec.

Even though Augmentation Evokers will serve as DPS in raids and dungeons, their main purpose will be to buff and boost their allies. Augmentation will be the first true support specialization in the game, introducing new animations and spells and potentially having a major effect on the current raid any M+ meta.

Augmentation Evoker is currently available for testing on the Public Test Realms (PTR).

Warlock Changes

With 10.1.15, Warlocks will become available for all World of Warcraft races, which follows the trend of opening up classes to more races. Over the last few months, we’ve seen Monks, Mages, Priests, and Rogues all become available to new races, with more race-class combos expected to be added with future patches.

Opening up warlocks to all races makes a lot of sense as it isn’t as demanding as with Shamans, which would require new totem models. With the upcoming patch, Warlocks will become available for: Mag’har Orc, Zandalari Troll, Tauren, Highmountain Tauren, Pandaren, Night Elf, Dranei, Kul Tiran, and Lightforged Dranei.

On top of making warlocks available for more races, players will also have the option to customize their warlock pets.

Time Rifts

Time Rifts have been available for testing, but we don’t know much about this feature, mainly due to the bugs on the PTR. However, it seems like it will be similar to the Rift feature in Patch 7.3.0: Shadows of Argus from WoW Legion.

In other words, Time Rifts will likely allow players to go through some kind of time rifts to see an alternate past/future and complete small scenarios for various rewards such as gear and mounts.

Megadungeon

One of the biggest features of Patch 10.1.15 is the addition of a new Megadungeon, which we now know is called the Dawn of the Infinite. It’ll be an eight-boss megadungeon, themed around Bronze Dragonflight, and feature unique fights depending on whether you’re Horde or Alliance.

As confirmed, Dawn of the Infinite will launch as a Mythic-only dungeon and later get its normal, heroic, and Mythic+ versions, likely in WoW: Dragonflight Season 3. Besides that, not much is known about the dungeon or its loot, but from the information available, Dawn of the Infinite looks to be an exciting new addition to the game.

Dragonriding Races In Kalimdor

Dragonriding races, which were now only available on the Dragon Isles, will expand to Kalimdor with Patch 10.1.15, which will consequently introduce new achievements for players to unlock. According to datamined hidden achievements, Dragonriding races will also expand to Eastern Kingdoms sometime in the future, but that has yet to be officially confirmed.

Even though Dragon races will be added to Kalimdor, dragon riding won’t be available in Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor just yet; however, there are some rumors of it being added in the future.

Patch 10.1.15 is likely at least one more month away, but from what was shared by Blizzard, what is available on the PTR and the small bits and pieces of information data mined, Patch 10.1.15 will introduce many excellent features to the game. This, however, is hardly surprising, considering Blizzard’s previous statement that they have a lot more content ready to launch, ensuring that we won’t run out of things to do in WoW: Dragonflight.
