Accidental Leak Confirms Bryan Fury As A Part Of Tekken 8 Roster

Bandai Namco’s accidental leak confirms the return of a popular Tekken character
by Tit Krajnik on May 28, 2023

A leaked gameplay video from the official Tekken account confirmed that Bryan Fury would join the Tekken 8 roster. The leak comes shortly after it was confirmed that Howarang would be added to the game with the release of Tekken 8.

Bandai Namco has not held back from keeping Tekken fans excited ahead of the game’s release with gameplay videos and character trailers over the last few weeks. Just recently, Tekken developer has confirmed Hwoarang as a playable character in Tekken 8, as well as the return of Nina Williams. But it didn’t stop there.

Although not intentionally, Tekken’s official account posted a gameplay video featuring fan-favourite character Bryan Fury, a corrupt cop who has been a mainstay in the Tekken franchise since Tekken 3. The footage showcased Bryan Fury with a slightly changed character design and voice, which sparked a debate among the fans about whether the developer took the right approach.

But most importantly, the gameplay video – which was deleted shortly after – all but confirmed that Bryan Fury would return to the active roster in Tekken 8.

Even though not officially announced yet, Bryan Fury’s return makes a lot of sense since he has been one of the playable characters since his debut in 1997 with Tekken 3. Throughout the years, Bryan Fury has changed visually and gameplay-wise, and it seems like he’ll look a bit different in Tekken 8.

Bryan Fury won’t play much differently than in the previous Tekken games and will only have a few changes made. So if we were hoping for Bryan Fury to play or look much different, we’ll have to wait for Tekken 9 to come out.

Bryan Fury joins the long list of returning fighters, including Asuka Kazama, Hwoarang, Nina Williams, and Leroy Smith. As of Sunday, May 28, 17 playable characters have already been confirmed – mainly through the gameplay trailers – including:

  • Jin Kazama
  • Devil Jin
  • Kazuya Mishima
  • Devil Kazuya
  • Jun Kazama
  • Paul Phoenix
  • Marshall Law
  • Jack-8
  • King
  • Lars Alexandersson
  • Ling Xiaoyu
  • Nina Williams
  • Leroy Smith
  • Asuka Kazama
  • Emilie “Lili” De Rochefort
  • Hwoarang
  • Bryan Fury

Tekken 8 has no release date yet but is likely to be released in late 2023 or early 2024.
