When Does Diablo 4 Season 1 Start?

Diablo 4 Season 1 is set to start in mid-late July
by Tit Krajnik on June 05, 2023

Thousands of people who bought Diablo 4 Deluxe or Ultimate editions are already enjoying the game, and we already got the world's first level 100 Hardcore player. However, while Diablo 4 is already playable and will officially launch on Tuesday, June 6, we're still weeks away from the start of Season 1.

A known feature from Diablo 3 is set to return to Diablo 4 with the introduction of seasons, which will add new content, items, questlines, and other changes to the game throughout its lifespan, ensuring that there will always be something to do. However, as we get closer to the official release of the game (on June 6), it's still unclear when Season 1 will begin.

Blizzard has confirmed that Diablo 4 Season 1 will launch in mid-late July, which suggests it could go live in the second or third week of the month (July 14-28). However, even though the exact date is unknown, Blizzard unveiled some features that the first season will bring.

As confirmed, each Diablo 4 season will last for three months, meaning four seasons per year. Moreover, these seasons will not continue the storyline from the main campaign – which will continue with a DLC – and instead introduce different content, each season with its own theme.

For players to fully experience each new season, they'll need seasonal characters, meaning a new character which will start fresh from level one. Once the season ends, the character will be transferred to an Eternal Realm, where the players can continue their adventures.

During a developer live stream, it was confirmed that players who've already completed the campaign once would be able to skip it and jump straight into the new season. Even though Diablo 4 seasons have a unique approach, they're mainly designed for players to complete the main campaign first.

Diablo 4 Season 1 Content

Each Diablo season will introduce a plethora of new content, from new items, quests, new enemies, and gameplay mechanics, new world events, as well as various class tuning and other updates, ensuring that the game will stay fresh.

Starting with Diablo 4 Season 1, we'll also get a Battle Pass with a free and paid version and tier skips. However, to ensure that the players can't buy power and gain an unfair advantage by purchasing anything with real money, Blizzard implemented only cosmetic items to premium battle pass and Smoldering Ash which is used to buy Seasonal Blessing and can't be obtained any quicker by those who are prepared to spend cash on the game.

Beyond the promise of new content, and a unique theme, it's unclear what Season 1 will bring; however, as promised, there will be plenty of new items to obtain and objectives to complete, which will feed into the player's renown.

Ultimately, there's a lot to look forward to, both for Season 1 and other seasons to come, as we delve deeper into the myriad of storylines and campaigns while exploring the rich world of Sanctuary.
