WoW Boosts Weak Specs, Omits M+ Key Affixes

Blizzard overlooks key dungeon affixes
by Tit Krajnik on June 06, 2023

World of Warcraft: Dragonflight introduced a series of hotfixes with this week’s reset on June 6, buffing a few underrepresented cases in Mythic+ Dungeons. But among all changes, Blizzard also forgot to add M+ affixes.

World of Warcraft: Dragonflight Season 2 Mythic+ dungeons have been generally well-accepted by the community, with a few asterisks. The changes implemented in Season 2 made healing more demanding, which made it tougher to find healers to run dungeons with, but beyond that, many of the specializations have struggled to find their spot in higher-end keys due to not being “meta” picks.

With the recent hotfix, Blizzard will address at least part of the issues by buffing six specializations, including Brewmaster Monk, Blood Death Knight, and Protection Warriors, who have been struggling to compete with Vengeance Demon Hunter, Guardian Druids, and especially Protection Paladins.

The buffs will hopefully make the three underrepresented tank specs more viable options for M+ and expand the pick meta to include more compositions.

Besides the three tank specializations, Assassination Rogues, Beast Mastery Hunters, Arms Warriors, and Fire Mages also got substation buffs in damage increases. While Fire Mages and Arms Warriors got buffs to some of their abilities, Assassination Rogues and Beast Mastery Hunters got a general damage increase buff of 5% (for both hunter and its pets).

Arms (Warrior)

  • All ability damage increased by 4%
  • Fatality Fatal Mark damage increased by 15%
  • Deep Wounds periodic damage increased by 5%
  • Rend periodic damage increased by 5%

Assassination (Rogue)

  • All ability damage increased by 5%

Fire (Mage)

  • Pyroblast damage increased by 5%  (does not apply in PvP combat).
  • Fire Blast damage increased by 10% (does not apply in PvP combat).
  • Fireball damage increased by 10% (does not apply in PvP combat).
  • Phoenix Flames damage increased by 10% (does not apply in PvP combat).
  • Scorch damage increased by 10%

Beast Mastery (Hunter)

  • All damage dealt by you and your pet’s abilities increased by 5%

Besides buffing some underperforming classes, Blizzard made a small mistake with the weekly reset. Shortly after the reset, North American players noticed that their Mythic+ keys had no affixes, which quickly proved not to be just a visual bug as players managed to start M+ dungeons without any affixes added.

It seems like the person responsible for adding affixes was busy playing Diablo IV, but whatever the explanation behind the mistake is, this is clearly a bug that should be addressed shortly. Or perhaps even European servers will get an affix-free week, which can only mean one thing  - it’s push week!
