Modern Warfare 2 Season 4's Vondel Map

MW2 Season 4 introduces new maps, new weapons and more
by Tit Krajnik on June 07, 2023

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Season 4 is on the horizon, and as we get closer to the launch of the new season, Activision unveiled more details of what to look forward to. Among other changes, MW2 Season 4 is set to introduce Vondel as a highly-anticipated map, which finally got confirmed.

Activision has recently found itself under fire by Call of Duty fans, who accused the game developer of prioritizing DMZ over all other game modes. But after recent announcements and the unveiling of the MW 2 Season 4 roadmap, Activision gave plenty to unpack and look forward to.

Along with other major changes coming with Season 4 is the introduction a new map Vondel, which has been on the cards for some time but has yet to get an official release date until now.

Vondel is one of the most heavily-anticipated Call of Duty maps, which has been teased before, but not officially confirmed until Wednesday, June 7, when Activision unveiled a full Season 4 roadmap.

“The waterfront district of a Baroque European city where centuries of old-world history blends with modern architectural developments, Vondel saw a complete evacuation due to an imminent attack threat right as Operators descended into the darkness of the Al Mazrah Koschei Complex during a fierce sandstorm at the culmination of Season 03."

“While Vondel is a brand-new locale for Operators to explore, the ensuing chaos is part of a plan activated by a familiar and infamous masked figure, whose forces are operating in both Al Mazrah and Vondel. Peer through the dust clouds, and you’ll recognize the apparent leader of these unknown forces: His name is Nikto. And he’s ready to Run This Town.”

The Amsterdam-based map will come with a dynamic fog system which will sweep across the city sporadically, changing how the map feels and plays every time you drop in. Welcoming up to 72 players, Vordel will be quite a big map, somewhere between Al Mazrah and Ashika Island. Besides the release of Vordel, CoD: MW2 will also introduce Lockdown LTM, a game mode inspired by Hardpoint.

But that's not all. Season 4 is also set to introduce a well-known map from Call of Duty 4, Showdown, which is making a return as a remastered version. And on the topic of returning things from previous Call of Duty titles is Razorback AR, which Black Ops players are very familiar with.

Season 4 is expected to launch on Wednesday, June 14. For more detailed information on what the next season will bring, check Acitivison’s blog post with a full roadmap.
