The Fortnite Summer Event Is Officially Here!

New content and new freebies are available, but only until July 18.
by Tit Krajnik on July 04, 2023

Epic Games launched the annual Fortnite Summer Event on Tuesday, July 4, called Summer Escape. The event introduced many changes to the game, including a plethora of goodies for players to unlock – but don't wait up, as the event will only last for a limited time.

Fortnite's Summer Event, dubbed "Summer Escape, " officially launched on Tuesday, July 4; however, unlike previous updates, it won't bring any major gameplay tweaks. At least no permanent changes.

As expected, the Summer Event will re-introduce ice cream cones, which will come in many flavors, including normal, frozen, spicy, guzzling, and Lil Whip's Special Serve. Consuming the ice cream will grant players heals and other buffs, including low-gravity jumping.

For the duration of the event, all in-game flare guns have been changed to shoot fireworks to add a bit of a festive touch, while the players will get to visit the new party headquarters at the Sunswoon Lagoon, located in the thick of this season's jungle biome.

It wouldn't be a Fortnite event if there weren't any in-game quests and challenges to complete and freebies to obtain, and the Summer Escape definitely delivered. For the duration of Summer Escape, players can unlock nine free rewards by completing various challenges, which are divided into different categories unlocked every few days.

Summer Escape Challenges & Quests

  • Quench Quests - available between July 4-7
  • Lagoon Party Quests - available between July 8-11
  • Make an Entrance Quests - available between July 12-16

Besides the XP rewards, Fortnite players will also get to unlock Naners wrap for the first set, the Treezy back bling for the second, and the Blossom Drop contrail for the third set. By completing event quests, players will unlock bonus rewards.

  • Wild Fronds back bling – 14 completed quests
  • Bugsy Glider – 18 completed quests
  • Toasted Coconut emote – 24 completed quests
  • Lagoon Escape loading screen – 24 completed quests

And it doesn't stop here. Summer Escape will offer bonus rewards, which can be unlocked by completing specific quests, which include Artifact Axe pickaxe (destroy 10 stones) and Starry Sea wrap (mantle within 30 seconds of busting through a door).

Apart from the free rewards, the Summer Escape will add two new skins – Opal and Chaos Explorer.

The Summer Escape will run from July 4 until July 18, at 6 AM PT / 9 AM ET, which gives us just two weeks to complete all the quests and challenges to obtain the limited rewards.
