PayDay 3 Will Have New Gun Progression And Smarter Special Enemies

New weapons, smarter enemies, and new abilities to watch out for
by Tit Krajnik on July 05, 2023

As we get closer to the long-awaited release of PayDay 3, the game developers shared more information about the game in the latest Dev Diary. As revealed, the game will have a new weapon progression and customization systems and much more intelligent enemies.

In the recently released PayDay 3 Dev Diary, game designers Jimmy Karlström and Miodrag Kova?evi? and the lead gameplay programmer, Martin Waern, shared some interesting details about the upcoming game.

As announced, PayDay 3 will launch with four difficulty settings – Normal, Hard, Very Hard, and Overkill – but regardless of the difficulty picked, the players will encounter all kinds of enemies. This was a priority for PayDay 3, so the content isn’t locked behind a specific difficulty, ultimately making the game more accessible to all players.

Greater difficulties will still increase the number of enemies, their damage, accuracy, and overall make them harder to fight. And with PayDay 3, this jump will be much more noticeable.

As revealed, PayDay 3 will feature much tougher enemies who’ll use new AI technology, making them smarter and harder to kill. One example of AI improvements includes SWAT units positioning behind shields as a cover.

Moreover, some of the well-known enemies from PayDay 2 will make a return, but with new abilities. The heavily-armored Bulldozer will now have a bull rush ability, where he rushes towards you and immobilizes the target hit. The players will have a brief time to fight back and break free or get fully stunned.

Everyone’s favorite Cloaker will also receive changes and enhanced melee abilities. Most notably, he’ll now be able to disable players’ equipment with acid. Besides the returning faces, PayDay 3 will welcome Nader, a new special unit that’ll come equipped with flash and gas grenades.

Like in PayDay 2, players will be able to fully customize their weapons, but with far more options. The weapons will also have their own progression, which will unlock new customization items such as sights, stocks, magazines, and more.

The latest Dev Diary have us just a brief insight into PayDay 3, with more information set to be released in the coming months, before the official release on September 18, 2023, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
