PayDay 3 Stealth Trailer Discovered After Five Days of Hidden Gameplay

They might have wanted to think twice about that one.
by Natalie Collazo on July 17, 2023

In what was probably meant to be a clever display of stealthy marketing tactics, Starbreeze Studios, the developer behind Payday 3, announced a new stealth trailer for the aforementioned game. Rather than following the traditional route of an official announcement, the studio decided to test the skills of its eager fanbase. What initially seemed like an exciting and secretive approach turned into a suspenseful five-day hunt for the hidden footage.

A mischievous team member ingeniously placed the new trailer behind the existing one on the Payday 3 website. The elusive clip would only emerge when the volume slider was completely muted or when the site was accessed in Incognito mode.

As the days passed, Starbreeze started to question the success of their stealthy ploy. The hidden treasure remained undiscovered, leaving the developers to ponder whether or not this was a good idea after all. Determined not to let their efforts go to waste, they introduced an additional twist to the enigma: poetry. By incorporating poetic clues into the mix, the studio hoped to assist eager fans in piecing together the puzzle and uncovering the concealed trailer.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the moment of revelation arrived. Today, Starbreeze breathed a sigh of relief and shared the news on Twitter, declaring, "Some days and hints later, this stealth heist [trailer] was finally discovered," and the video was placed on YouTube. You'll be able to pick up PayDay 3 when it launches on September 21.
