EA has revealed full patch notes for Battlefield 2042 Patch 5.2, unveiling all the changes coming with the updates. Some of the most notable improvements include map reworks, changes to squad management, and ammo crate improvements.

Following a controversial launch in 2021, Battlefield 2042 is slowly getting back on its feet, thanks to EA, who has been working on the game, fixing the bugs that plagued it at launch, and introducing various improvements through patches and updates. And we’re just a few days away from another update which will touch on some more issues and introduce balance changes for several weapons.

EA announced the 5.20 Patch Notes on Saturday, July 29, in a blog post, highlighting some of the improvements that’ll launch next week, starting off with the Hourglass map rework.

As confirmed, Battlefield 2042 patch 5.20 will reduce the size of the Hourglass map to keep it more combat-focused while adding more cover in areas that tend to see the most action. To give players a chance to protect themselves, the updated Hourglass map will also have an increased military presence and new fortified positions.

Battlefield 2042 Hourglass Map Changes

  • Village – is now a fortified military base and the new starting position for Breakthrough matches.
  • Al Wadha Arches – the bridge has collapsed and created a crater, while a new underground section has been added to keep players safe while they prepare for the assault.
  • Security Checkpoint – updated to make it “rupe for vehicle gameplay” and added new areas of cover further into the downtown area.

Besides the map changes, Battlefield 2042 Patch 5.20 will also introduce balance changes for the P90, AKS-74U, PP-2000, M60E4, XM8 LMG, M240B, Type 88 LMG, and the RPK-74M, which had their accuracy, damage curves, dispersion, and recoil behavior tweaked to feel more consistent. Moreover, all Vault sidearms have received All-Out Warfare Attachments where possible.

Lastly, there will be changes to squad management. With Battlefield 2042 Patch 5.20, leaders can now issue attack or defend orders towards objectives through Squad Orders. Completing the orders will earn bonus XP (Squad Order Bonus).

The update comes with many notable changes and improvements, and it’ll also fix various bugs that have been causing issues in Battlefield 2042, including audio issues, AI bugs, and more. Full Battlefield 2042 Patch 5.20 Changelog can be found on EA’s official website.
