Grapple Glove Returns To Fortnite

Fortnite unvaulted fan-favorite mobility item
by Tit Krajnik on August 02, 2023

Fortnite has been dealing with a noticeable lack of mobility items this season, and it seems Epic Games took notice of the problem and decided to fix it. As revealed on Tuesday, August 1, Fortnite will welcome back the fan-favorite Grapple Glove, which has been unvaulted and re-added to the game.

Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3 has introduced significant changes to the game, including a new jungle biome and plenty of new features which the players got to enjoy. But there is one aspect of the game that Epic Games seemingly forgot about, which kept the player base wondering when it’ll get fixed.

A significant factor in being successful in Fortnite is being able to move around the map efficiently, avoiding the Strorm Circle, and reaching the safe areas before they get eliminated by the approaching danger. And while this seems simple enough, the size of the Fortnite island makes it difficult to move around the map without any help of mobility items.

Fortnite has had plenty of mobility items, including cars and Raptors, which returned to the game recently. Before that, we had the ODM Gear, Spider-Verse Web-Shooters, and the Kinetic Blade, but those were all vaulted at the end of Chapter 4 Season 2, creating a noticeable lack of mobility items in Chapter 4, Season 3.

Thankfully, Epic Games decided to fix the problem by re-adding the Grapple Glove, which can be found inside chests or as a floor loot and will be available for the Zero Build mode and the Battle Royale game mode.

The return of the Grapple Glove isn’t that shocking since it was already leaked that it would be re-added to the game in June; however, it took much longer than expected for Epic Games to unvault the item. And since the Grapple Glove is getting added so late, the players won’t get to enjoy it for long.

Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3 is coming to an end on August 25, meaning that the Grapple Glove will remain in the game for just over three weeks. This also brings up an important question of which mobility items we will get access to in the next season.

Epic Games has evidently been moving away from offering too many mobility items to players. Yet, it seems keeping a fair balance and the players happy is challenging as too many mobility items reduce the importance of the Storm Circle. In contrast, not enough items keep the players complaining due to the lack of options.
