Xbox 360 Store Set to Close in 2024

You'll still be able to purchase these games on the Xbox Series X|S.
by Natalie Collazo on August 17, 2023

It's officially the end of an era. In July 2024, the beloved Xbox 360 store will officially close. However, Microsoft is making sure that players who have fond memories of their time with arguably their most popular console will still be able to play their favorite games.

Between now and the official date that the store goes down, which is July 29, 2024, you should still feel free to purchase games and DLC from the Xbox 360 Store and the Xbox 360 Marketplace. On this date, the Microsoft Movies & TV app will also no longer be accessible. This means that you're going to want to start looking for alternative ways to enjoy your favorite shows if you've been doing so on an Xbox 360.

Now, for the games, even though the service won't allow you to purchase games anymore, that doesn't mean you won't be able to play them. Of course, if you have physical copies of your games, then you can still use the Backwards Compatibility feature to play those games on modern-day consoles. The games that are also compatible for Backwards Compatibilty will also still be purchasable from your Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S consoles and can also be deleted and reinstalled if you so choose.
