Two Final Fantasy XVI DLCs Are In Development

Valisthea's story continues with two more DLCs
by Tit Krajnik on September 03, 2023

As announced by Final Fantasy 16 producer Naoki Yoshida, Square Enix is working on bringing Final Fantasy XVI to PC and is currently developing two premium expansion packs, which will expand Clive's adventures in Valisthea.

The latest news came via Square Enix's "Voices from Valisthea" pane during PAX West 2023, which featured producer Naoki Yoshida, who shared the big announcement in a short video.

"As I mentioned earlier, we've seen so many opinions and reactions from our community of Final Fantasy XVI players. But one thing that came through particularly strongly was how people wanted to see more of Valisthea's story and spend more time with her inhabitants. To accommodate, the development team has started work on two instalments of paid downloadable content."

Finally, while Final Fantasy XVI was released as a PlayStation 5 exclusive, we are aware that many of you have been asking for a PC version. So, allow me to take this opportunity to officially announce that development on a PC version is currently underway. I hope to be able to give you more information on both the upcoming downloadable content and the PC version before the end of the year, so please stay tuned.

Square Enix is pleased with Final Fantasy 16 and the game's sales, so it makes sense for the developers to build on the franchise's success by bringing it to PC and adding two premium expansions. As it stands now, it's unclear which content the expansions will tackle or whether they'll be standalone or an addition to the game; however, as confirmed by Yoshida, the two DLCs will give the players a chance to see more of the world of Valisthea and its characters.

In addition, Final Fantasy 16 received free DLC on PlayStation5, introducing new outfits for Clive, Juill, and Joshua and a glamour system for weapons, allowing players to combine the stats of one weapon with the appearance of another.

The latest news was accepted well by the Final Fantasy XVI community; however, there are still a few unanswered questions, namely, what will the two DLCs introduce, and when can we expect Final Fantasy 16 to become available for PC players? Still, while Square Enix was reluctant to share more details, Yoshida promised that more information should be available by the end of 2023.
