Complete Mortal Kombat 1 Roster Leaked

Nitara returns after 17 years
by Tit Krajnik on September 06, 2023

Mortal Kombat 1 complete roster of fighters has seemingly been leaked online a week before the game's official release. According to the leak, MK1 will feature 24 fighters, including MK Deadly Alliance character Nitara.

Mortal Kombat 1 is set to release in just a couple of weeks – or on September 14 for those who own the Premium Edition – but even now, a few weeks ahead of the game launch, NetherRealm Studios has yet to officially release the complete list of fighters. But perhaps it won't need to if the latest leaked images are correct.

A modding enthusiast, "thethiny," has recently shared an image of a full roster of MK1 fighters, which he obtained by having an early Nintendo Switch copy of Mortal Kombat 1. Although thethiny's image doesn't display the fighters' names, the provided photos give enough information to connect the dots and figure out which 24 characters we'll get to play in MK1.

The leaked image has caught the attention of all Mortal Kombat fans, particularly the fact that the game will seemingly re-introduce the MK Deadly Alliance character Nitara. She can be seen in the leaked image in the bottom right corner next to Ashrah, and while there are no displayed names to undoubtedly confirm it, her appearance with demon wings all but confirms that it is her.

Nitara hasn't been seen in a Mortal Kombat game since MK Armageddon, released in 2006, and made a brief cameo in MK11. Nitara has also featured in the recent Mortal Kombat movie and yet wasn't included in any of the most recent games.

Nitara is a vampire who, like Shang Tsung, has to prey on the lives of others to remain alive. She's depicted as a self-serving and morally neutral character in the MK universe and isn't evil; however, she has a distinctly gothic appearance, which would suggest otherwise.

The provided leaked image also seems to confirm that Havik will be the game's story mode unlock as the only character on the roster with a lock next to his name. More interestingly, the image also features a greyed-out character slot, which could either be a DLC fighter or a secret character.

Aside from leaks confirming Niatra as a playable character in MK1, there aren't many surprises, as all other playable fighters have already been revealed in recent Mortal Kombat 1 trailers.

Mortal Kombat 1 will release on September 19, 2023, and will be playable five days earlier (September 14) for those who purchased the game's Premium Edition.
