One Of Apex Legends' Best Guns Is Getting Nerfed

Harbingers Collection event will introduce many balancing changes
by Tit Krajnik on September 15, 2023

Nemesis AR is finally getting a long overdue nerf, ending the era of terror of the burst rifle, which lasted for two seasons. The nerf will go live with Apex Legends' next update on Tuesday, September 19.

The latest Apex Legends event, the Harbingers Collection, is set to go live on September 19, and it'll introduce a plethora of changes to the hugely popular battle royale game. Among other things, players can expect a new Living Shell Trios LTM, which will introduce target seeking grenade, as well as an alternative version of World's Edge, new event skins, and balancing changes,

On the balancing side, Apex Legends' two hugely popular legends, Revenant and Horizon, are getting nerfs due to being two of the best legends of Season 1. Revenant led the season stats with a 9.6% pick rate, whereas Horizon proved to be too popular in the Apex Legends esports scene, with a 42% pick rate in the ALGS Championship games.

Whether nerfing Revenant and Horizon will introduce some balance to the game remains to be seen; however, the announced nerfs to Nemesis AR are definitely a step in the right direction.

Nemesis AR made its first appearance in Apex Legends in Season 16 as an energy AR, which quickly became the players' favourite weapon. With its high fire rate, small bullet drop, low recoil, and devastating damage output, Nemesis AR was everything Apex Legends could ever wish for in a perfect weapon.

Admittedly, using Nemesis AR properly requires some learning, but as soon as you adapt to the short burst, it becomes a deadly tool in anyone's hands. So much so that many considered it to be way too strong. Luckily, all that will change in the upcoming update.

As revealed, the Harbinger Collection event will introduce an update for Nemesis AR, which will have its damage reduced from 17 to 16 and its ADS recoil increased. This will take away some of Nemesis AR's biggest advantages, but the small damage reduction likely won't affect it too much. The ADS recoil increase might, but it remains to be seen whether it'll make it any less desirable among Apex Legends players.

Besides Nemesis AR, a few other weapons are set to receive some changes, including the Mozambique, which is returning to floor loot, whereas RE-45 and the 30-30 Repeater are getting moved into crafting rotation.
