Sledgehammer Games Announce The Return Of Fan-Favourite Mechanic To MW 3

Modern Warfare 3 looks more and more like a modern version of the 2009 MW2
by Tit Krajnik on September 18, 2023

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is just months from its release, and as we get closer to the launch date, the developers are slowly revealing new details about the game. Most recently, Sledgehammer Games announced that Modern Warfare 3 will have faster mantling, a heavily requested feature the community hoped would return.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 promises to bring back many features from older CoD titles, namely the 2009 Modern Warfare 2, including remastered versions of the original MW2 maps and popular weapons, which will combine with new mechanics of more modern CoD games.

Sledgehammer Games’ decision to bring back older maps and mechanics stems primarily from community feedback, which has long been asking for a game similar to the original MW2, and based on the information the developers have provided so far, MW3 promises to be just that – a more modern version of Modern Warfare 2.

Although the older maps such as Skidrow, Terminal, and Rust are a big reason for MW2’s success, an even bigger factor was the game movement mechanics, deep weapon customization options, and time to kill. With the upcoming MW3, Sledgehammer promised very rich weapon customization options, a faster time to kill, and changes to the movement mechanics.

Slower movement in newer CoD games has been a big topic of discussion among players, with most of the community agreeing that faster movement would make the game more enjoyable. And as it seems, Sledgehammer Games listened.

As confirmed, CoD: Modern Warfare 3 will have much faster and smoother movement, bringing back many of the older movement features, including faster mantling, enabling players to chain mantle quicker and more efficiently. This will remove situations where players are stuck in long mantling animations, unable to fire quickly when needed.

Even though much of MW3 is still unknown, the short clips of the gameplay and the information shared by the developers point to one thing. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 will play very similarly to the original MW2, with faster movement, quicker time to kill, many weapon customization options, and reload and slide canceling, which should make the game feel much faster and potentially more enjoyable to play.
