Bethesda Is Working On Remasters Of Two Classics – Rumor

Rumor has it that Bethesda is working on reviving Oblivion and Fallout
by Tit Krajnik on September 19, 2023

It has recently been revealed that Bethesda is working on reviving Oblivion and Fallout 3 by releasing remastered versions of two of its classic games. This was revealed through leaked documents used during the FTC’s attempt to block Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard.

The FTC’s attempt to block Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard was denied in July; however, the FTC is still against the deal closing. At the same time, we don’t know how this story will end; recently, several documents from the case leaked, revealing exciting details of several key players in the gaming industry, including Baldur’s Gate 3 developer Bethesda.

According to the leaked documents, Bethesda has been working on several projects over the year, which include a remastered version of The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion and Fallout 3. Interestingly, the document lists The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion for 2022 and Fallout 3 remastered for 2024. And since there was no remastered Oblivion release in 2022, it’s fair to assume we won’t be getting Fallout 3 remastered in 2024, either.

Besides the missed dates, it’s also public knowledge that Bethesda is currently working on Elder Scrolls 6, so it’s doubtful that it’ll put many resources into the remastered version of the two classics. Conversely, it’s more than fair to assume that Bethesda has separate teams working on different projects; in this case, we could be getting The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion and Fallout 3 remastered pretty soon.

The dates in the leaked document leave a lot up for imagination. Starfield is listed as a 2021 release, and we know it hasn’t launched until two years later, so perhaps all the releases were delayed for two years. In that case, The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion remastered might be set to launch in 2024 and Fallout 3 in 2026. But this is purely speculative.

Other notable names on the list include DOOM Year Zero, a sequel to Ghostwire: Tokyo, and Dishonored 3. So, while the document doesn’t show the actual release dates, it all but confirms that Bethesda is working on the games. There are also other unknown names on the list, such as Project Platinum and Project Kestrel, which we can only guess what they might be.
