Payday 3 Can't Seem To Redeem Itself

I swear, if I get another Nebula error...
by Natalie Collazo on September 25, 2023

Opening weekend was incredible for Payday 3, with nearly 1.3 million players opting in. The game was available on GamePass, which made it even more available to players who wouldn't have played it otherwise, me included. Unfortunately, Payday 3 has been plagued with several issues since even the beta that have yet to be resolved. Most, if not all of them, revolve around Nebula, the program that you must log in to if you want to play the game at all, even in solo mode.

These errors range from the system not being able to distinguish which version of the game you are playing to players just being unable to log in. This long string of errors has made it nearly impossible for some players to play the game as it requires a constant online connection. Even being able to play solo without being online is impossible. Especially considering that solo play is only available as a secret feature within the game that is exploited to seem as though it is a solo mode.

Of this, CEO Tobias Sjögren had this to say,

"a lot of diligent and consistent work ahead of us to regain community trust, but we will work hard to do it. We are confident in our core product and the quality of Payday 3—and all available metrics point to it."

The previous installment to the game, Payday 2, has been regarded as one of the most popular co-op games of all time. The third game was widely regarded with positive thoughts during its announcement giving players new and old a fresh start on a popular story.

Payday 3 is now available on Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and PC.
