Halo Multiplayer Game And Campaign Are Supposedly In Development

343 Industries is supposedly working on two new Halo projects
by Tit Krajnik on October 16, 2023

According to recent rumors, 343 Industries has started developing the next Halo single-player campaign, which will continue the story from Halo Infinite. The campaign will supposedly be built in Unreal Engine 5, but it doesn’t have a release date yet.

343 Industries has recently restructured the team behind Halo Infinite amid Microsoft’s wave of layoffs and the departure of Joe Staten from the team earlier this year. 343 Industries has already planned an additional solo campaign, which would continue the story of Master Chief and The Weapon, but was reportedly abandoned.

However, this is not the end of the story of the Halo solo-player campaign.

According to recent rumors, 343 Industries has started working on a brand-new Halo project, for which the developer will partner with Certain Affinity – a studio that helped with Halo Infinite’s multiplayer – to build a new Halo multiplayer title, which will combine the elements of Battle Royale games and extraction shooters.

Codename Tatanka, the new project will be the first Halo game built on Unreal Engine, moving away from 343 Industries’ Slipspace engine.

While an exciting project, Tatanka is not the only project 343 Industries is involved in.

As it was revealed by insiders, 343 is already hard at work developing a new Halo single-player campaign, which will be built as a part of 343 Industries’ Unreal-based Halo restructuring. However, while this is exciting news for all Halo fans who have been waiting for a new Halo campaign, it was said that it likely won’t be ready for at least a couple more years.

It’s important to note that 343 Industries of Microsoft have not officially confirmed the Halo single-player project or Tatanka. However, 343 has stated that it plans to keep Halo as the cornerstone of the Xbox brand, which guarantees that there are new Halo projects 343 planned for the future.
