Apex Legends: Ignite Unleashes New Legend, Overhauls Storm Point, and Introduces Cross Progression

Get ready for the next season of Apex.
by Natalie Collazo on October 26, 2023

At a recent press event for Apex Legends: Ignite, attendees got an exclusive preview of what's in store for the new season. The standout feature is Conduit, the charming but capable new Legend joining the roster. She's a character with a hint of sassiness akin to Rampart, yet she plays like a hybrid of Wattson, Catalyst, and Bangalore rolled into one. Conduit's backstory is rooted in the rich lore of Titanfall, and her focus on family, friends, and culture is expected to resonate with fans. In her intro trailer, Conduit's positive and infectious personality shines as she playfully bantered with Mirage and Gibraltar.

While Conduit is categorized as a support class, she's versatile enough to lead the charge into battle, making her suitable for both offensive and defensive playstyles. Her unique abilities include:

  • Passive Ability: Savior’s Speed – Grants a burst of speed when running towards allies out of tactical range.
  • Tactical Ability: Radiant Transfer – Temporarily provides shields to a teammate while receiving a similar buff.
  • Ultimate Ability: Energy Barricade – Deploys an array of shield-jamming devices to damage and slow enemies.

Storm Point's Exciting Overhaul

Storm Point enthusiasts have something to look forward to this season as the beloved map undergoes a significant overhaul. The playable area will be reduced in size, addressing concerns about match pacing and player encounters. With this smaller Storm Point, battles are expected to kick off sooner and happen more frequently. In addition to the map's size reduction, players can explore new Points of Interest like Wattson's Town Takeover and the Devastated Coast. The stormy weather has stirred up local wildlife, introducing new challenges and adversaries, including spiders, prowlers, and enemy squads in the most electrifying version of Storm Point yet.

Cross Progression: A Fan-Requested Feature

A long-awaited feature arrives with Apex Legends: Ignite – Cross Progression. This feature unifies cosmetics, badges, and achievements collected across all platforms into a single, seamless account. The process is automatic and consolidates your highest-ranking account as the base account, incorporating all earned and unlocked items from multiple platforms. For players with heirlooms unlocked across various platforms, this means they will finally have all their valuable items in one place.

Ranked Mode Improvements

This season, Respawn's focus on Ranked gameplay continues, with three significant changes aimed at enhancing the competitive Apex experience:

  1. Ranked Rewards: The skydive trail is replaced with a new Ranked banner frame that players will keep indefinitely.

  2. Promotional Trials: Player results are now tied to their progression, eliminating the ability to climb the ranks while on the sidelines.

  3. Party Restrictions: Restrictions on Ranked play in Trios have been removed, providing more flexibility for players to team up.

Balancing Legends and Weapons

As customary with each new season, adjustments to Legends and weapons aim to balance gameplay and the overall meta. The Red Tier Wingman is a noteworthy addition to Care Package drops. With the Skullpiercer Elite attachment, the already powerful Wingman becomes a formidable force, so players are advised not to leave it behind or risk it falling into enemy hands.

A Season Packed with New Content

In addition to these highlights, Apex Legends: Ignite promises an all-new Battle Pass featuring skins, banner frames, emotes, weapon charms, and stickers. The season will be filled with events and challenges to keep players engaged and entertained. Mark your calendars for November 2 when the Apex Legends team will reveal more details about their collaboration event with Post Malone.

Apex Legends is available now on Xbox, PlayStation, PC, Switch, and Mobile.
