Payday 3's First Patch Is Finally Here

Will this redeem the game's reputation?
by Natalie Collazo on November 02, 2023

Between matchmaking issues, server issues, and a slew of other issuesPayday 3 has had anything but a smooth launch. Fortunately, the long-awaited patch, patch 1.01, to solve these issues is finally here for everyone to actually enjoy the game as it was intended to be.

The patch was supposed to be released on the fifth of October but was delayed to ensure that it was stable when it launched. A couple of weeks after the delay was announced, we finally had it in our hands. Unfortunately, it is unclear if the patch will help with its current problem of having only a few thousand active players, contrary to the tens of thousands of players that its predecessor is currently pulling.

The patch notes reveal that just about everything is being overhauled, from visuals to UI arrangements. To make things perfect, Starbreeze Studios, the developers behind the game, have also announced fixes to the highly-criticized progression and XP system. However, news on when that is set to release has yet to be confirmed. If their track record continues to be the same, we should expect it sometime in the next few weeks at a random date.

Regardless, Payday 3 still has a long way to go if it wants to prove itself to be an advancement within the series. As it stands now, more players are going back to the second game for the ideal gameplay experience.
