Roadhog Rework Brings Back His One-Shot Combo

Roadhog just became more dangerous
by Tit Krajnik on November 14, 2023

On Monday, November 13, Overwatch 2 announced a long-awaited Roadhog rework, introducing a new ability, Pig Pen. However, while the rework only includes one new ability, it could prove far more helpful than it may seem - helping the players more easily execute Roadhog's one-shot combo.

On Monday, Blizzard shared its plans and details about Roadhog rework, which the team has been working on to help the tank hero maintain his identity as a tank hero capable of dishing out a lot of damage. In a bid to accomplish that, the developers have restored Roadhog's ability to one-shot enemies; however, this time, it comes with a slight twist.

The latest update will introduce Roadhog's new ability – Pig Pen – a deployable trap that deals damage to enemies within an area once triggered. The trap will continue to slow enemies and deal damage over time as long as they stay within a certain radius.

Even though the new ability might not seem like much, it'll significantly help Roadhoag players to hit their Chain Hook and kill enemies with a single Scrap Gun shot. So, while the Pig Pen doesn't necessarily make Roadhog more dangerous, it will serve as an excellent utility ability.

Besides Pig Pen, Roadhog won't get any more new abilities and will keep its kit of Take a Breather, Chain Hook, Scrap Gun, and Whoile Hog ultimate.

Roadhog is currently in a weird spot as one of the least-played heroes in Overwatch 2, with just a 1.68% pick rate. Even though this still makes him a more player hero than Mauga, Wrecking Ball, Ramattra, Echo, and six other heroes, Roadhog boasts the lowest win rate out of all playable heroes, at just 45.68%.

Whether the changes will balance out Roadhog remains to be seen; however, some players aren't too happy with the changes, with most stating they feel a bit underwhelming. That sounds reasonable since the Pig Pen, while a helpful ability on paper, feels like Junkrat's deployable trap, and adding just one new ability hardly justifies the update as a proper hero rework.
